Hello and thank you for visiting! Welcome to the season of 2018. Since 1992, Put-in-Bay Watercraft Rentals has been located on the dock of South Bass Island State Park, 1523 Catawba Avenue on South Bass Island, in Put-in-Bay, Ohio 43456. Open Memorial Day through Labor Day, 10am-6pm daily, weather permitting.

Must be 18 to operate. Weight limits are 250 pounds max for a single, 400 pounds for a double. Safety test or Ohio Boaters safety Card required if born after 1/1/1982 (for operator only). Specified riding area. Double Waverunner has one passenger switch allowed per half hour for a $5.00 fee. 2 passenger switches are allowed for a one-hour rental with a $10.00 fee. No operator switches are allowed. You can decide if you want passenger switches at the time of your rental and pay for it then.
STAND-UP PADDLE BOARDS
We accept Paddle Board Reservations from 10am-12pm everyday. The rest of the afternoon is first come first serve. We offer Ocean Kayak Brand Nalu.Max weight is 250lbs.No test required.
Kayaks
We offer hourly Ocean Kayak reservations for single or double rentals 10am-12pm everyday.The rest of the afternoon is first come first serve.Weight limit is 250lbs. for a single and 400lbs. for a double.No safety test is required.
12’ (25hp) & 15’ (40hp) POWER BOATS
12’ (25hp) boat weigh limit is 400lbs.15’ (40hp) weight limit is 600lbs.Must be 18 to operate.Safety Test or Boaters Safety Card is required if born after 1/1/1982 for operator only.There is a specified riding area.No passengers or operator switches allowed.
We offer walk up service anytime and reservations all week (weekends and holidays til noon only) for our single and tandem kayaks, Waverunners, Stand-up Paddle Boards (SUP), Power Boats for 1-5 passengers (weight limits apply). Discounts apply automatically in your shopping cart. The longer you rent the bigger the discount! Weekday morning reservations for Waverunners and Power Boats also have automatic discounts until 12pm noon! If your day isn’t available in the shopping cart (sold out) we re still open and you can try walk up service. Don’t let your vacation end at the shore, be your own captain of the Great Lakes!

Please take into account your travel plans. We will hold your time slot and turn away other customers during your time slot. If you don’t arrive, arrive late or don’t qualify to operate, there are NO REFUNDS. Please don’t assume we are closed because of weather conditions some place else. Reservation times are for the actual riding time. Any studying and testing must be completed before your reserved time slot, so get here early enough to meet your particular requirements! Kayaks and Paddle Boards do not need to take the test, only Waverunners and Power Boats. Everyone will stay in our Designated Riding Area watched by our staff. Reservations should be made at least a week prior to the day of your arrival to guarantee time slots. Some prices may be higher online compared to walk up for certain times. Other time slot reservations are lower here on our web site.
$50 per watercraft refundable deposit required for all powered watercraft (kayaks and paddle boards require no deposit) at the time of your rental to insure compliance with safety rules and laws.
1. Kayaks/Paddle Boards- Reservations are 10am-12pm only, walk-ups accepted all day. No Test Required.
2. Waverunners and Power Boats- Walk up rentals accepted all day, reservation accepted Monday-Friday all day, and Saturday-Sunday 10am-12pm only. Weekend afternoons and holidays are first-come, first-serve only.
3. To operate a waverunner or power boat (kayaks and paddle boards excluded):
If you were born on or after 1/1/1982, you must EITHER possess an Ohio Boaters Safety Card, OR take a 10-question exam when you get here (15-minute Study Guide provided). Allow one hour for studying, testing, and safety orientation BEFORE your scheduled rental time. If you are late or don’t pass, there will be no refunds. If you were born before 1/1/1982, you must arrive 1/2 hour early. We suggest you get your Ohio Boaters Safety card at the link provided here to avoid any time delays or possibly not passing the test here. https://www.boat-ed.com/ohio/
4. Safety Orientation- Will takes about 5 minutes.
5. Safety Equipment- everything is provided at no charge.
6. Under the influence, even a little? NO RIDE, NO REFUNDS.
7. No testing is required for Passengers.
8. Weight Limits- Weight limits and passenger limits are on the product pages.
9. 300’ Rule- The minimum distance from anything else while on the water (other watercraft, your friends, or the shoreline).
10. Cancellation/Change Policy- No Charge up to 7 days prior to rental day. Within 7 days of your reservation, no refunds.
